For unstretched (non-framed) stencils we cannot guarantee foil flatness

Stencils with high opening counts or areas with concentrated groups of openings will cause stress to the foil. The only way to ensure foil flatness is to order a framed stencil or use a 4 direction foil tensioning system like the LPKF Zelflex.

Design defaults

These are common design occurrences which affect your stencil order. To prevent the need to cancel or delay your order, we have established a standard set of defaults.

  • No paste layer information. As long as complete gerber data including outer copper layers, soldermask, silkscreen, and fab drawings are provided we will do our best to create a functional stencil layer. We will do our very best, but cannot be held responsible for any errors.
  • Testpoints, shields, and option loads. If it is on the paste layer provided, we will open it. If it is not you must add a small text document indicating exactly which size pads to transfer and what layer to find them on. In the same manner indicate any features on the paste layer you wish to remove from the stencil. For created paste layers we will not add any testpoints or shield pads.
  • Foil thickness is incorrect. We will use the foil thickness you specify even if the openings on the stencil do not pass printability standards. To avoid this, choose "Best Fit" for stencil thickness and we will choose an appropriate foil thickness that ensures optimal printability.
  • "No Modification". Use this option when the paste layer is pre-modified and you do not want us to make any adjustments to the openings.
  • Pre-modified paste layers. When paste layers are provided we assume them to be 1:1 with the PCB and make modifications from that point. If complete gerber is provided to us and we discover that the paste has been adjusted, we will first change it to 1:1 and then modify to our standards.
  • Fiducials. Fiducials will be half-etched on board contact (bottom) side when available. If they are not provided on the paste and complete gerber is provided, we will try to transfer them from another gerber layer but cannot be held responsible if we choose incorrect pads. If we determine there are no fiducials, we will choose PTH pads where available. If we are unable to locate any pads which can be used as fiducial marks, we will cut the stencil without them. We cannot add them later.
